hi jim - i certainly don't mean to imply my athletic life ended in my 20's, or that it's not possible/reasonable/smart/fun to set a goal of racing to your genetic potential with grey hairs on our heads. I don't doubt there're thousands of such folks who's wheel i'd struggle to hold.

Besides... doesn't 'staying active' involve speedy trips through the lava fields? lets redefine that phrase :)

I'm 62 and have entered the phase you just left in your 20's. I'm racing. Started out by attempting to complete an Ironman after being inspired to start triathlons again after a 5 year hiatus. I did my first at 42 and quit after 10 years. After 2 Ironman age group wins followed by disappointing races at the World Championship, I'm plotting my third assault on Kona. So, your 60's don't just have to be about staying active.
